My Learning Process

For my final goal I have done a great deal of research into dealing with conflict in the classroom and have found that today many teachers use meetings to work through issues with or among students. I have read a variety of posts by these teachers who use meetings successfully in their classrooms as well as articles that support this style of conflict resolution. The meetings they describe involve having all parties in the conflict sit down with the teacher in order to work together to find a solution for their conflict. From the research I have conducted, I have started to develop my own procedure for these meetings where I am outlining the steps I would take when leading them in my own classroom. I am very excited about this procedure I hope to my final results together into a document that can be helpful to both me and my peers. Over the next few weeks my plan is to finalize my procedure so I can spend time connecting it to the First Peoples Principles of Learning and concepts such as trauma informed practice. Applying these to my procedure will allow me to ensure my meetings will benefit all students and not cause any emotional harm to those involved as conflict resolution meetings can be a high stress situation. I am excited to share my results with everyone and I hope to post my final product here so it is available to anyone who may be going on the same learning journey I am.
