My Learning

Throughout the semester this goal has been an ongoing project as each time I received a new resource I would sort it into one of the categories I have included below. In each of the subject area files there are lesson plans and resources on that subject area which I have collected through this semester and my previous two years in this program. Within the other files there are guides for using these principles and examples from presenters who spoke about the topic to us during presentations. Of course will have to continue to update and add to these files through my practicum and final year of this program, but I am happy with the foundation I have created for myself. When I am prepping lessons this spring I will be able to go through these files and quickly find the tools I need to teach the best lessons possible, which is a great confidence boost to have under my belt.

At the start of this goal I had connected it to two UVic teacher competencies, competency number 1: Exploring your Teacher Identity and World View and competency number 12: Understanding the Learning Process. The time I spent organizing my resources and understanding what I have to work with when I entered the classroom allowed me to better understand how I want to teach. Going over lesson plans and materials let me explore my identity as a teacher and set me on the track to understanding how I want to present myself in the classroom. I also now feel much more confident in terms of what I want to explore and learn next year as I have taken inventory of what I have already learned and I know the next steps in my learning process.
