This week our EDCI 336 class went on a field trip to the Pacific School for Innovation and Inquiry aka PSII.  Getting to visit PSII was a really cool experience and helped me understand how effective inquiry based education can be.  Before this visit I was a bit unsure as to how inquiry education could work as the main learning tool at the high school level due to all the requirements needed to graduate.  After a talk and a question session with the principal of PSII I finally understood how this style of learning could work and how effective it is.  I individually spoke with him about how they work with IEP’s at the school and I found it really interesting how he explained that though they make adaptions where necessary, every student basically has an IEP as every student has their own independent learning plan.  Thinking back to my time in high school I believe having more options for this education style would have really benefited my learning.  Hopefully more schools like PSII will begin to open and standard schools will begin integrating more inquiry based learning to help their students succeed.
